Minutes

Minutes of the meeting held on 12 November were read and signed as true and correct.

Defibrillator

The new defibrillator and cabinet are installed and working. A sign has been put on the school gate.

National Trust

NT’s Brian Hayes has discussed the drains problems in the Croft with Bob Sellers so that a solution can be implemented during the car park construction work.

Work should start in February on the “Changing Places” room and there will be a planning application to create an easy access path. It is planned to remove some trees to restore the “picturesque landscape” shown in old pictures of Ilam Park. The Council asked NT if they could also seek to improve the view from Blore Pastures, which is currently obscured by trees around the hall and church, and also restore the fountain in the Italian Garden. Sensory mapping of the park is underway.

There will be a performance of Macbeth on the lawn on 10 July, with tickets on sale from 01 March.

Peak Park

NT are seeking to obtain funding to improve the Church Path. If unsuccessful, the Council may consider crowd funding.

Improving Village Environment

C Sellers and N Taylor will look at filling the big hole opposite Town End Cottage with bricks and/or stone.

Maintenance of the plant tubs and tractor tyre is ongoing and the Council approved a budget of £200 for this during the next financial year.

Highways

The No Through Road sign for Castern Spur is now at Warrington’s garage. The Clerk will ask Richard Temperton to collect it.

The Clerk will report various highways problems: blocked drains in the village and at Damgate; the drain in the road by the coach lay-by is sinking; there is a large hole by K Warrington’s house.

SMDC

A new timesheet will be needed for the lengthsman covering the period October to March.

Finance

There is £1,009 in the account. Expected expenditure for the rest of the financial year is £622 while income of £217 will be received. So the year-end balance at the end of March should be £604.

The Council agreed a budget of £1,146 for 2020-21 and will request a precept of £800, the same as last year. Together with £400 from the lengthsman’s scheme, this will give total income of £1,200 resulting in an expected year end balance of £658 at the end of March 2021.

Date of next meeting    The next meeting will be on 10 March 2020.
