Minutes

·       Minutes of the meeting held on 7 July 2023 were read and signed as true and correct.

National Trust

•           A Chillingworth sent an update for the Parish Council

Driveway to Church

•           Quotations for the work have been received-vary considerably. Awaiting a couple more quotes before making a decision.

Accessible Paths

·       Planning approval and Listed Building consent were both received for the proposed development on 23rd May. There are two conditions attached to the approval, the first being a written scheme of investigation which is required to provide a method statement of how we are protecting any archaeology. A watching brief will also take place as part of the construction process. The second condition relates to the provision of a construction Environmental Management Plan which will be provided by the contractor following appointment. This is a method statement of how minimise environmental impact during construction- things like tree root protection.

·       We have gone out to contractors for expressions of interest. We have 4 contractors who would like to price for the project. Tenders will be sent out on 02/10/23 and the return date will be set as 30/10/23.

·       Start on site dates will be partially determined by the contractors, but we hope to start on site in January of next year and expect the project to have an 8–12-week construction period.

Hinckley Bridge

·       The planning application is still being processed by the Peak district National Park Planners.

·       Determination date deadline has now passed. We are awaiting an update from them on a revised expected decision date.

Tree Removal

·       Discussion still required with Diocese over the method of tree removal and gaining access. To carry out the works.

·       Area ranger has met with the tree surgeon on site to discuss the removal works.

·       Rural surveyor to apply for consent which has expired.

·       NT will also pay for some felling work at the school – they have some Ash trees which are suffering from Ash Die Back.

Improving Village Environment

•           A Remembrance Bench has been purchased for the village. A memorial plaque is also on the bench suggested by Mrs. J Wain for those who lost their lives at war. We would like to have a service / blessing of the village Bench. we will update the village once this decided.

•           Monument flowers will be replaced with bulbs for the spring.

Highways

•           We are still awaiting an update for the yellow lines, white lines, drains and culvert cleaning that was requested to Cllr G Heath at the last meeting.

•           There has been a new sign for Castern & Throwley, and the potholes have been filled over on Blore Road and Thorpe Road. The yellow lines at School have been marked as work raised so hopefully, they will get done soon.
