Notice of Polling District and Polling Places Review

Notice is hereby given that in accordance with Section 18C of the

Representation of the People Act 1983 Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (the Council) is to carry out a review of its polling districts and polling places

“The Parliamentary Boundary Commission published its revised proposals for new constituency boundaries. This review takes into account the new boundaries subject to them being approved by Order of the Privy Council”

Relevant information and mapping regarding the current arrangements and proposals for changes can be found on the Council’s website www.staffsmoorlands.gov.uk/elections or can be inspected at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council Offices, Moorlands House, Stockwell Street, Leek, Staffordshire ST13 6HQ

The (Acting) Returning Officer (ARO) for the Parliamentary Constituencies of Staffordshire Moorlands and Stoke-on-Trent South will make comment on the proposals and those representations will be published on the Council’s website and notice boards in accordance with the timetable set out below

Electors within the District of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, or the Parliamentary Constituencies of Staffordshire Moorlands or Stoke-on-Trent South, may make a representation. We invite comments from all electors regarding the convenience of voting at polling stations currently used for elections and would welcome suggestions for alternative sites

The Council would also welcome the views of all residents, particularly disabled residents, or any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability, on the proposals, the ARO’s representations, or any other related matters

Persons or bodies making representations should, if possible, give alternative places that may be used as polling places.

All representations must be made by no later than 10^th November 2023

Timetable for the Review

2^nd October 2023	Publication of Notice and commencement of the review
2^nd October 2023	Council proposals published
2^nd October 2023	Commencement of consultation
10^th November 2023	End of formal consultation
By 24^th November 2023	Consider responses
1^st December 2023	Published revised register
15^th January 2024	Preparation and Publication of the (Acting) Returning Officer’s comments and proposals
5th February 2024	Deadline for receipt of public comments on the (Acting) Returning Officer’s comments
8^th March 2024	Final proposals considered by the Council’s Committee

The outcome of the review will be published by the Council in March 2024 and will be available for inspection on the Council’s website and at the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s offices Moorlands House, Stockwell Street, Leek, Staffordshire ST13 6HQ

Anybody making representations should be aware that, upon completion of the review, all correspondence and representations received must, by law, also be published
